Local artist to host exhibit at Water Street Studios

Christopher Cudworth of North Aurora will host a solo exhibition titled "Road Trip: Passage Through Collective Memory" in the second-floor gallery at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St. in Batavia.

The opening reception will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The exhibit will continue until Oct. 6.

Cudworth, a resident artist at Water Street, will be displaying 25 works in pastel and acrylic, all mounted in antique window frames.

The show features images capturing the moods of life on the road in travels from cities to countryside. Scenes include roadside iconography from Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and beyond, with human subjects as well.

On Friday, Sept. 14, Water Street Studios will host its ninth anniversary show with an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m.

A wide range of artwork donated by artists affiliated with Water Street Studios will be auctioned off Sept. 14 starting at 8 a.m. Bid on your favorite painting, drawing, print, sculpture, glasswork, assemblage and more from morning to evening using your phone via the mobile auction platform 32auctions.com.

This is a chance to get a deal on one of your favorite pieces of art and help Water Street Studios reach its goal of raising $5,000 to support arts programming in the Fox Valley region and beyond.

Artwork will be available to view online starting Wednesday, Sept. 12. The auctioned work will be on display in the Loading Dock adjacent to Water Street Studios during the regularly scheduled monthly gallery opening reception.

Winning bidders will be able to go home with their new original artwork Sept. 14 at 8 p.m.
