Enjoy Free Music Fridays This Fall at College of DuPage

The College of DuPage Music program presents a series of musical performances and lectures Fridays this fall at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Music Fridays @ Noon is a series of one-hour free programs featuring the College of DuPage Music Department, with performances and presentations by COD faculty, students, alumni and guests. Events are held in Room 140 of the McAninch Arts Center, unless otherwise noted.

"The Music Department is excited to continue Music Fridays @ Noon. Each semester brings a wide variety of presentations and experiences that are unique and engaging," said Lee Kesselman, COD Music program chair and choral music director.

The Friday program begins Aug. 25 with a spotlight performance featuring COD music faculty.

Future events include a performance by Tony Reyes & Friends titled "Jazz It Up" at the MAC's outdoor Lakeside Pavilion (Sept.1), the works of Schubert (Sept. 22), a discussion on the music transfer process (Oct. 13) and a free screening of the 2014 documentary "Take Me to the River" (Nov. 3).

"Those attending really appreciate the chance to learn from our faculty, experience intimate recitals by faculty and guest artists, as well as hear our students perform," Kesselman said. "With each presentation, an impromptu talk-back happens that really completes the experience. Since we started the Music Fridays @ Noon series, our audiences have grown steadily, including campus, student and community members who love the informality and quality of these events."
