Streamwood Kiddie Academy Makes this School Year Memorable for Local Kids
Kiddie Academy of Streamwood hosted a "Fill the Backpacks" community drive to collect dozens of school supplies, filling several backpacks with needed materials for disadvantaged children. The local education-based child care and preschool program partnered with Back 2 School Illinois to ensure the backpacks and supplies got to those that needed them most.
The academy's families and friends all supported the efforts by donating and collecting school supplies from July 30 - August 17. Back 2 School Illinois provided a list of recommended school supplies needed for students in pre-kindergarten through second grade.
"The very core of our program is making sure children are ready for school. It's painful to think there are students getting to school without core materials needed to help them succeed," said Kim Carlson, director of Kiddie Academy of Streamwood. "We fully believe in supporting the community--whether it's our enrolled students and families or the local neighborhoods, businesses, and organizations. The Fill the Backpacks drive perfectly blended the basis of our business and our desire to contribute to our community."
