Teen programs offer trips, technology and tee times

A variety of classes are offered at the Cary Park District to capture the attention of teenagers of every age. Signup is available online at carypark.com or in person at the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road. For information, call the Cary Park District at (847) 639-6100.

K-1 Speed Racing:

Enjoy the best karting experience in America at K-1 Speed Racing in Buffalo Grove. You race with up to 12 other drivers while competing against your own time. Electronic scoring and race result sheets are provided after each race which allow you to compare your time with the best of the week or best drivers of the month. Fee includes two races with license fee, safety orientation, transportation and chaperones. Participants must be between 11-14 years of age and drivers must be at least 48-inches tall. Transportation leaves from and returns to the Community Center. The trip is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday Sept. 3. Cost is $65 for residents and $98 for nonresidents. Teens should bring extra money for lunch before or after racing.

Intro to Drones:

Whether you are looking to fly drones for fun or become an FAA licensed Unmanned Aerial System pilot, this class gets you started and on your way. Students, ages 15-adult, review drone safety rules and each student receives simulator time to practice flying and crashing a drone. By the last class, you will have the ability to fly your drone in all directions and maneuver aerial flips as well. Each student receives a small training drone to keep. Class will be held at the Community Center Tuesdays, Sept. 4 to Oct. 2, or Thursdays, Sept. 6 to Oct. 4. Both classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Cost is $160 for residents and $240 for nonresidents.

Golfing at Foxford Hills Golf Club:

Time to tee up for an afternoon on the golf course. Practice your swing on the driving range and enjoy a round of golf with your friends. Kids ages 11-14 are welcome to sign up. Join the Park District from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Foxford Hills Golf Club in Cary. Cost is $60 for residents and $90 for nonresidents.

Battle House Laser Combat:

Make no mistake - mission based laser tag is not the traditional "kiddie style" laser tag with small plastic gaming devices. Battle House in Lake Barrington offers a unique and thrilling form of entertainment referred to as mission based laser tag or tactical laser tag. Teens are geared up for an intense form of recreation and team-building that utilizes the latest generation in tactical laser equipment with gaming devices that use technology adapted from military combat training. Teens, ages 11-14, are invited to attend. This trip is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9. Cost is $60 for residents and $90 for nonresidents. Transportation leaves from and returns to the Community Center.

Urban Air Adventure Park:

It's an indoor fun park for the older kid. Urban Air is the best year-round ultimate indoor amusement playground which is sure to take your fun to the next level. Teens, ages 11-14, enjoy the indoor coaster, ropes course, climbing wall, warrior obstacle course and more. Kids must be 48-inches tall to attend. This trip is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Transportation leaves from and returns to the Community Center. Cost is $60 for residents and $90 for nonresidents.
