Prince of Peace UMC in Elk Grove Supports Community Cares Closet

Prince of Peace UMC of Elk Grove is organizing a special collection for the School District 59 Community Cares Closet. The Closet is open to all District 59 families in need who are referred there by school Social Workers. The closet contains new and gently used clothing for kids as well as adults and is open two days a month at the Ridge Family Center for Learning.

Since there can be a wide fluctuation of stocked items, especially those that cannot be donated gently used, certain items are more difficult to procure. We are asking for donations of new boys and girls underwear and socks of all sizes. A collection box will be in the church lobby beginning September 2 and the collection will run through September 30. Anyone interested in donating may bring items to the church, located at Devon and Arlington Heights Road, Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:30 am-12:30pm, or prior to worship on Sundays at 9:30 am. Please be generous, as each child who benefits from your donation will have a better chance to feel confident when dressing for school, which will better insure his/her success.

Prince of Peace welcoming statement: Believing in God's inclusive love, we welcome all into full participation in the congregation, regardless of age, ability, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith background, family configuration, or socioeconomic status.
