MCC Shah Center to host informational breakfast Aug. 22

McHenry County College will host an informational breakfast on Wednesday, Aug. 22, for area employers to learn about workforce development programs available, including grant-funded English as a Second Language, Workplace English and High School Equivalency Exam Prep.

"McHenry County manufacturers are reporting that language barriers within the workforce are impacting promotion and retention," said Catherine Jones, associate vice president of Workforce Development. "We're offering these customized programs for employers and their employees because quality and safety are impacted when communication is not clearly understood within the work setting when the native language is not English."

The breakfast takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the MCC Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry.

There is no fee to attend but registration is required by Monday, Aug. 20.

To register yourself and your team, call (815) 455-8593 or email shahcenter@mchenry.edu.
