Palatine Chamber of Commerce Presents 'Explore Palatine' Saturday, September 8

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) is spearheading 'Explore Palatine', an event that encourages residents to make a point of shopping in Palatine, and supporting the local business community on Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Area businesses and community organizations are invited to participate in Explore Palatine, and are encouraged to let residents know they are taking part in it by hosting sales, specials or simply by displaying a yellow balloon outside of their locations on this date. This information can also be shared on business and organization social media pages with the following hashtag and social media tag, #ExplorePalatine @PalatineChamber.

Residents are encouraged to explore Palatine's hidden gems, including places they have not patronized in the past. They can participate by visiting Palatine-based service providers, organizations and restaurants on this day, and whenever possible.

"Local businesses employ our residents and sales taxes go back into supporting the entire Village - so shopping local not only helps businesses thrive, it contributes to strengthening our community," said Gale Cohen-DeMarco, the event co-chair and owner of SportClips in Palatine.

Sales tax dollars generated from Palatine businesses directly impact the community; $48 of a $100 purchase stays in Palatine when individuals shop at an independent business, while $14 stays in Palatine when patronizing larger/regional Palatine businesses - but just $1 stays in Palatine when people shop online.

Explore Palatine is an outgrowth of PACC's 'Think Local' campaign. Open to all Palatine businesses (chamber of commerce members or not), the campaign was created to generate awareness about the importance of patronizing local businesses and educating residents and business owners about the importance of keeping sales tax dollars in the community.

The PACC would like to thank the Presenting Sponsor, Pan American Bank & Trust and Partnering Sponsor, Downtown Palatine Business Association.
