Bartlett's Immanuel UCC hosts remembrance, dedication ceremony

On Sunday, July 22, Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett held a special remembrance and dedication ceremony.

The ceremony included a remembrance and dedication of the John Kingsmill Memorial Youth Flower Garden and Bench.

Kingsmill died in November 2016 at age 61 after a battle with cancer. He was an active member at Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Bartlett resident worked at Elmwood Park High School, where he touched many lives as a teacher, track and cross-country coach.

A memorial stone marking the garden is dedicated to John Kingsmill and the church youth, with the quote, "As the flowers grow in God's glory, so shall the youth of Immanuel United Church of Christ."

The church also dedicated a chair lift and a vegetable garden located on the church grounds. The garden is Gavin Broderick's Eagle Scout Project. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 26, which is chartered by the church.

A. Allemann's paintings were dedicated to the glory of God.

The church is on the corner of North and Western avenues near downtown Bartlett. For more information, call the church office, (630) 289-1320, or visit www.bartlettiucc.org.
