Young Eagles to offer free plane rides Aug. 4

The Young Eagles Chapter 790 of the Experimental Aircraft Association offers free airplane rides from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Lake in the Hills Airport, 8397 Pyott Road.

Registration before the event day is not available. The Young Eagle flights will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis so be sure to arrive at or close to the event start time.

It will be offered again at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 1 and Oct. 6.

Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program has dedicated 25 years to giving youth, age 8 to 17, their first free ride in an airplane. It's the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.

Today, the Young Eagles program has flown over 2 million kids with the help of EAA's network of volunteer pilots and ground volunteers. Stop by and take a free airplane ride!

The free flying event is weather dependent. You can check on the status of the rally by calling (224) 484-7163 beginning Friday evening.

Make sure the youth wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen and clothing that is appropriate for the weather that day. Be sure to bring water as they won't have water available on site.
