Algonquin Garden Club awards scholarships

The Algonquin Garden Club recently awarded two Diane Connelly Memorial Scholarships.

The scholarships ($1,000 each) go to Hampshire resident Abigail De Dina, a Hampshire High graduate, who will be attending University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Wisconsin, and Hampshire resident Sarah Carr, a Hampshire High graduate, who will be attending Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

The Diane Connelly Memorial Scholarship enables the club to enhance its philanthropic endeavors that benefit the Algonquin and surrounding communities. It is a fitting tribute to Connelly, who was such an integral part of the Algonquin Garden Club for many years.

Bill Connelly and his family have presented the club with a monetary memorial in honor of his late wife, who was a past president of the club.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to individuals seeking a career in the fields of horticulture, conservation, agriculture, landscape architecture, forestry, or environmental studies.

Visit algonquingardenclub.org or follow the club's Facebook page. The club meets once a month at a member's home.
