Local churches host vacation Bible schools, camps

Churches all around the Fox Valley are offering vacation Bible schools and camps this summer.

July 9-13

Time Lab:

Lord of Life Church, 40W605 Route 38, Elburn, will offer a "Time Lab: Discovering Jesus From Eternity Past to Eternity Future" vacation Bible school Monday to Friday, July 9-13. The program is offered to kids ages 4 years through fifth grade.

Each evening will start with a family dinner at 5:15 p.m., which will be followed by the program from 6 to 8 p.m.

Youth in sixth grade and up and adults are invited to volunteer. If you are interested in helping with dinners, check-in, crafts, games, or being a group leader.

Splash Canyon:

St. John's Lutheran Church and School, 101 N. Spring St. in Elgin, will offer the vacation Bible school, "Splash Canyon: God's Promise on Life's Wild Ride." It will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 9 and Friday, July 13.

Life is full of thrills and spills; you may not know what's around the bend, but God does! At Splash Canyon, kids discover that Jesus is by their side on life's wild ride. God saves you through Jesus and gives you life and hope every day and forever. The kids will play games, eat snacks, sing songs, make crafts, and dive into The Word with the "Splash Canyon" theme. The Conquerors:

Christ United Methodist Church, 9009 W. Algonquin Road in Algonquin, will offer "The Conquerors: We Are More Than Conquerors" vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Monday to Friday, July 9-13.

Get on board a STEAM Punk air ship for the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math camp. It includes coding Spheros and Ozobots! The camp is a "S.T.E.A.M. Punk" voyage retracing the adventures of Saint Paul who sailed dangerous seas to share Christ's love. Explore how - through Christ's love - you are "more than conquerors" over fears, threats, worry, peer pressure, and discouragement. Suggested donation is $10 for one child or $15 for a family. Living Grace Community Church, 1500 Silver Lake Road in Cary, will hold "Time Lab: Discovering Jesus from Eternity Past to Eternity Future" vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, July 9-13. Rolling River Rampage:

Cornerstone Church will host the vacation Bible school program "Rolling River Rampage: Experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God" from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, July 9, to Friday, July 13, at the church, 41W170 Russell Road in Elgin. Register by June 23 to receive your "Rolling River Rampage" T-shirt. It is open to children ages 3 to entering sixth grade. It is free. To register, visit umc-cornerstone.org/children.php. Splash Canyon:

St. Peter Lutheran Church, 18N377 Galligan Road in Gilberts, is taking registration for the vacation Bible school "Splash Canyon: God's Promise on Life's Wild Ride." It will be from 9 to 11:45 a.m. July 16-20. At "Splash Canyon," kids discover that Jesus is by their side on life's wild ride with five days of stories, songs, crafts, playing and snacks. Breaking Free:

Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St., Batavia, will offer "Breaking Free, Hebrews 12:1-2," a sports camp for age 4 to 12, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16-20. Choose from basketball and ultimate Frisbee for age 8 to 12; cheer, soccer, or arts and crafts for age 6 to 12 or Team 45 (for 4- to 5-year-olds). It features Christian coaches, quality sports instruction, positive role models, daily Bible times, skits and fun. Every camper receives a camp T-shirt and daily take-home Bible studies. Theater camp:

Light of Christ Lutheran Church and Preschool will offer a "Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr." theater camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, July 16-27.

This engaging two- week program for kids, age 10 to 16, is offered every summer at Light of Christ.

A new musical delights as kids experience songs, stage set creation, publicity design, laughter, friendships, and growing with God!

Shipwrecked:

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will offer "Shipwrecked: Rescue by Jesus" vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Thursday, July 23-26. Venture onto an uncharted island where kids survive and thrive. Anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through life's storms. Participants can be preschool through entering fourth grade. Fifth-graders and up are invited to help by volunteering! Anyone registering before July 1 will get a free T-shirt. Visit www.shepherdoftheprairie.com.

July 23-27

MEGA Camp:

The Bridge Church of Algonquin, in cooperation with Eastview School, is offering its fifth annual MEGA Sports Camp to children who have completed kindergarten to fifth grade. This daily camp gives the kids the chance to learn more about sports, discover character-building concepts, and have fun.

Kids can choose from soccer, basketball, mixed martial arts, or cheerleading. Sports camp also brings upbeat rallies filled with music, sport stories, object lessons, and Bible stories.

Join MEGA Sports Camp Monday to Friday, July 23-27, at Eastview Elementary School, 540 Longwood Drive, Algonquin. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Each registered child will receive a camp T-shirt, daily snack, and other camp awards.

Building Our House of Faith:

Unity of Fox Valley youth education will offer the "Building Our House of Faith" vacation Bible school from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 31, to Friday, Aug. 3, at the church, 230 Webster St., Batavia.

All ages from preschool through high school will have fun "Building Our House of Faith" through role-play, songs, games, and crafts.

This program will conclude with a heartwarming presentation during Sunday service Aug. 5 where the youth will perform a skit and sing songs they learned in the vacation Bible school. It is free.
