Thousands enjoy St. Charles Fine Art Show

An estimated 35,000 people attended the 20th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show over Memorial Day weekend in downtown St. Charles, presented by STC Capital Bank.

The juried fine art show featured artists in various mediums, and many attendees commenting that it was "The Best Show ever"!

As supporters of the arts, STC Capital held a "Celebration of the Arts" Friday evening at Mixology Salon Spa/116 GALLERY to showcase last year's Fine Art Show winners. During the celebration, STC Capital Bank awarded scholarships to six children from the community for extensive art classes throughout the summer at All Things Art Studio.

The Artist Award Winners include

Best of Show:

Karrie Jamison - The Best in Show winner exhibited her painting, acrylic work in 116 GALLERY in downtown St. Charles.

Awards of Excellence:

Kate Morgan in mixed media, Ann Marie Cianciolo in fine art jewelry, Natalya Sots in clay ceramics, Mel Fleck in print making, Kurt Kamholz in painting-oil, and Cyndy Callog in painting-watercolor

Judges Awards:

Nicholas Ringelstetter in mixed media, Josh Merrill in fine art photography, and Melissa Mason in drawing/illustration.

A multitude of artist demonstrations took place throughout the weekend, with this year's Art Activities Tent by All Things Art Studio supplying crafts for kids of all ages, sponsored by Dayspring Pediatric Dentistry.

The Feature Tent showcased Murano Midwest, high-end fine art glass. Also, heard throughout the show was wonderful music performed by musical entertainers in the Music Tent, sponsored by Neri Landscaping in conjunction with the Arcada Theatre which donated the stage and the sound system for the performers.

Another popular attraction was the Downtown Historic Trolley Tour, sponsored by Gerald Kia of North Aurora, which gave people insight and perspective into the architecture and history of downtown St. Charles' landmark buildings and homes.

New this year was the Paint the Pavement Chalk Festival, sponsored by Fox Valley Auto Group. This event took place across the river where more than 10 artists spent hours turning First Street into a gallery of chalk art.

The 2018 St. Charles Fine Art Show was organized by the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, with the dedication of its wonderful volunteers, the Fine Art Show Committee and day-of-event volunteers. Each of them were supported by Volunteer Tent Sponsor, BMO Harris Bank. The volunteers were all donning handy aprons supplied by Volunteer Apparel Sponsor, AHC Advisors Inc.
