Waubonsee appoints new assistant dean

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Eamon Newman to the position of Assistant Dean for Online Learning and Flexible Delivery at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 20.

This is a new position designed to focus on faculty development, specifically related to online course design and effective teaching practices in various web-enhanced, flexible delivery methods.

Newman has served as a Technology Trainer at the college since January 2017. He has also been involved in the college's Title V Online Course Quality Review.

Prior to joining Waubonsee, he worked in a variety of roles from instructional designer to systems developer and network administrator. Newman has also served as an adjunct instructor in both online and face-to-face formats at McHenry County College.

Newman holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Digital Media from the Institute of Art and a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University. While at Northern Illinois University, he designed the website interface for the Unified English Braille Online Training.
