ChildServ welcomes five new members to its Board of Trustees

Chicago, Ill. - June 22, 2018 - ChildServ, a nonprofit dedicated to building better lives for children, announced today five new members to its Board of Trustees: Jacques Conway, Eduardo Luz, Rebecca Novak, Mary Anna Planey, and Kimberly Walz.

"The addition of these dedicated, diverse and skilled community leaders to ChildServ's Board of Trustees ensures that we are better able to build better lives for the children and families in our care," said Dan Kotowski, President and CEO of ChildServ. "We appreciate their commitment to our mission and the unique knowledge, experience and expertise that each will bring to help our clients reach their potential."

Rev. Dr. Jacques Conway serves as the Chicago Southern District Superintendent of The United Methodist Church's Northern Illinois Conference. He received his Doctor of Ministry from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in New York and earned a Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary. Conway previously worked as a police officer at the Oak Park Police Department, where he became the first African-American to retire from the force as the Senior Sergeant of Patrol. He lives in Chicago with his wife, Dr. LaMenta "Sweetie" Conway, and they have three adult children.

Eduardo Luz, a Wilmette resident, is the President of U.S. Grocery Business and Executive Vice President at The Kraft Heinz Company, overseeing iconic brands like Heinz Ketchup, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Planters, Velveeta, Capri-Sun and Jell-O. Prior to his work with Kraft Heinz, he held leadership positions at Anheuser Bush InBev and Unilever. Luz received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Rebecca Novak brings to ChildServ's Board of Trustees vast experience in public policy, currently working as Senior Manager for U.S. Government Affairs at BMO Financial Group. Before her time at BMO, Novak served as Senior Manager of Government Relations at Adtalem Global Education (formerly DeVry Education Group) where she monitored legislation, administrative action and regulations pertaining to the higher education sector. She holds an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management, and resides in Chicago.

Mary Anna Planey, from Chicago, is an Assistant State's Attorney currently assigned to the Human Trafficking Unit of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Prior to joining the Human Trafficking Unit, she worked in the Felony Trial Division. Planey specializes in both misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases, and came to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in 2000 with extensive experience working with vulnerable victims.

Kimberly Walz currently works as Walgreens' Regional Director of Local Government Affairs. She comes to ChildServ's Board of Trustees with more than 12 years of experience in government relations and over five years of strategic communications work in both the public and private sectors. From August 2016 - November 2016, she served as Director of Illinois Women for Hillary for the Hillary for America presidential campaign. Walz received a Master's Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and is a resident of the city of Chicago.
