Rosary High School in Aurora held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2018 on May 23 at St. Peter Church in Geneva. The class valedictorian is Riley McCue of Aurora and the graduation speaker is Jordan Geriane of North Aurora.

The Rosary High School Class of 2018 features 73 graduates, 21 Illinois State Scholars, one National Merit Commended Student (Sarah Foley); and 22 National Honor Society members. The graduates earned $13.2 million in college scholarships (90 percent of the 73 graduates earned this total); and did 12,375 hours of community service.

All of the graduates are college-bound with 90 percent of the students attending a four-year school, and 10 percent attending a two-year school. One student (Mackenzie Adkins) is attending the United States Air Force Academy, and 17 athletes have signed letters of intent to play their sport in college.

Six members of the Class of 2018 were named St. Catherine of Siena Scholars, Rosary's highest academic award. Catherine of Siena scholars must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0 and a minimum of 15 honors courses, a strong attendance record, and a strong service record, among other requirements.

Valedictorian Riley McCue of Aurora is an Illinois State Scholar, a member of National Honor Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and was named Rosary's High Achieving Science Student of the Year. She is a scholar athlete, playing basketball and softball for the Royals. The daughter of Robert and Brenda McCue of Aurora, Riley will continue her academic and softball career at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.

Excerpts from Jordan Geriane's address to her classmates:

"As I look at the Class of 2018, I see confidence, courage, and capability. I see heart. I see passion and strength radiating within the souls of these bright women. … Women who are on the path to transforming the world around them as brilliant doctors, inspiring educators, and fierce leaders. … Women with an inextinguishable fire for what they love. I see Veritas: Truth!

"Enjoy your ride … Your journey has only begun - so hit the road and drive as far as you possibly can. For Proverbs 3:6 says, "Seek God's will in all you do, and He will show you which road to take." So … trust the road map that God has laid out for you, and just drive."
