United Way of Elgin's 20th Day of Caring returns in July

After a few years off, the United Way of Elgin is thrilled to bring back its popular Day of Caring Volunteer Event on Friday, July 27.

The 20th Day of Caring will feature projects from nine Elgin area health and human services agencies and three elementary schools.

A total of 130 volunteers are needed to complete these projects. Work will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This year, the event will kick off with a morning rally at Larkin High School, with coffee and doughnuts along with some remarks from United Way of Elgin board members. Volunteers will then go to their assigned project locations.

After spending a few hours painting, planting, building, cleaning, and mulching, United Way of Elgin board members will deliver a boxed lunch to all volunteers.

Are you ready to get your hands dirty? If you are interested in volunteering, visit www.uwelgin.org/2018DayofCaring to register by Friday, June 29.

You can select either an indoor or outdoor project, and can sign up as an individual or with a team.

Some of the projects available are with the Association for Individual Development, Boys & Girls Club of Elgin, Easter Seals DuPage and Fox Valley Region, Ecker Center for Mental Health, Family Service Association, Food for Greater Elgin, Northern Illinois Food Bank, PADS of Elgin, and Well Child Center.

The Day of Caring is made possible thanks to sponsorships from Hoffer Foundation, DeJames Builders, Dr. William Holevas, My Advisor and Planner, LLC, Stoll Real Estate, and TBK Bank.
