Tree-trimming to briefly close portions of Fox River Trail and Elgin Prairie Path

Two utility tree-trimming projects will prompt intermittent closures of portions of the Fox River Trail in South Elgin and along the Illinois Prairie Path in Elgin next month.

In South Elgin, Lewis Tree Service will trim trees underneath power lines and remove dead trees that threaten lines along the Fox River Trail, from State Street north to Villa Marie Road in Valley View

south.

Additionally, Lewis Tree Service will trim trees in the vicinity of power lines and remove dead trees that threaten power lines along the Illinois Prairie Path in Elgin, from Stearns Road along Dunham Road, to Kane/DuPage County border line.

The tree-trimming/removal projects are expected to begin July 11, and will be completed by July 31.

The Forest Preserve District asks trail users to be mindful of the project, heavy machinery being used, and of the possibility of intermittent trail closures during the time frames indicated.

Signs for the projects will be displayed to alert trail users.
