Aurora church service offers fatherly reflections

Submitted by Al Benson

Fathers and father figures were celebrated in touching messages Sunday at Aurora's Fourth Street United Methodist Church.

During an open-mic period to conclude an annual Father's Day service, about 10 congregants informally offered heartfelt recollections of fathers and father figures.

Worship leader and church secretary Chris Martin invited the reflections after she read scriptures citing biblical fathers.

After worship, Martin's sons, Alex and Sam, dished free rootbeer floats and homemade brownies for congregants preparing to exit into 90-degree temperatures.
