Break a world record for swim lessons at The Water Works

Schaumburg Park District is taking part in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for swim lessons.

The Water Works, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, will join aquatic facilities worldwide at 10 a.m., June 21 to host The World's Largest Swimming Lesson. Designed to promote the importance of teaching children to swim and prevent drowning, the event includes a 30-minute-long free swim lesson for participants ages 1 and older.

"Swim lessons save lives," said Heather Hagstrom, aquatics supervisor. "We thought this would be a great program to build awareness."

Swimmers will be divided into groups based on age. Last year's record for the event included 600 locations in 27 countries.
