Win the chance to watch a movie in a classic car

Local residents have a chance each week to win two free tickets to the Volo Auto Museum, a $25 gift card to D.C. Cobb's and two free admissions to the McHenry Outdoor Theater, including free popcorn and fountain drinks for two at the theater, through Nostalgic Day Giveaways.

Winners also get to watch the movie from a head-turning, 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe, courtesy of the museum, 27582 Volo Village Road, Volo.

One winner will be drawn each Wednesday through Aug. 15 from entries completed at www.volocars.com. Entries are not purged, and new entries are permitted as often as once a week, according to museum director Brian Grams.

The winners' Plymouth seating will be 10 days after each Wednesday draw. In other words, the winner selected May 16 will have the special viewing spot reserved for May 26, and so on.

"What we envision is folks having a full-day of nostalgic entertainment," Grams said. "Come out to the museum and enjoy the day seeing our classic cars and historical displays. Get some dinner at D.C. Cobb's, then climb into this really cool, vintage car to take in a show at the Outdoor."

"It's a unique opportunity to partner with the museum as well as the Outdoor Theater for more fun activities in McHenry," said Dan Hart, co-owner of D.C. Cobb's in McHenry, which has also partnered with Rotary of McHenry's Blues, Brews & BBQ event in August.

Scott Dehn, Outdoor owner and downtown theater part owner, said classic car enthusiasts frequently drive their prized possessions to the Outdoor at Chapel Hill and Lincoln roads.

"Wherever those cars park, there's always a crowd around them," Dehn said. "Now people not only get to look at them, but they might also win the experience of sitting in a vintage car and watching the movie from one.

"Go to the museum, get some dinner, go to the theater - your day is complete, and it's all spent locally, which is even better," he added.
