We Want You… Join the Uncle Sam 5K and Little Patriot's Kids Dash Sunday, July 1

As our sweet Land of Liberty celebrates Independence Day, area residents are invited to participate in the second annual Uncle Sam 5K and Little Patriot's Kids Dash, in Palatine's historic downtown Sunday, July 1, 2018. The event starts and ends at Tap House Grill, 56 W. Wilson Street. The Little Patriot's Kids Dash begins at 8:40 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:00 a.m.

Freedom will ring as participants don their red, white and blue, or a short sleeve dri-fit - along with an Uncle Sam hat provided with event registration. In addition to walkers and runners, mothers with children in their strollers are invited to 'soldier on' and get in on the fun!

"We're excited to grow the Uncle Sam 5K in downtown Palatine as part of the July 4th holiday festivities," said Aaron Del Mar, ASE founder. "This race is of the people, by the people and for the people!"

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Palatine Park Foundation, a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to contributing to the health and well-being of all Palatine Park District residents.

Awards and a customized Uncle Sam 5K medal will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, and the top three runners of each age group. All Kid Dashers receive an Uncle Sam hat and race bib. An after party to celebrate the home of the brave will be held at Tap House Grill immediately following the race. All participants receive one complimentary drink and a breakfast sandwich, and will have plenty of time to make it over to Hometown Fest which opens at noon on Sunday, July 1.
