Two Naperville Parks staff graduate from Naperville Chamber's 2018 Leadership Institute

Two members of the Naperville Park District's staff graduated April 24 from the 2018 Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute along with other community leaders. The four-month program is now in its ninth year.

The Naperville Park District Leadership Institute graduates were Steve Erlenbaugh, assistant customer service manager, and Tim Quigley, south parks operations manager.

A team of experienced business leaders and entrepreneurs guided the educational sessions which focused on the topics of ethics and values, goal setting, communication, teamwork, coaching, customer focus, business acumen, and strategic thinking. Additionally, guest panelists from the business community shared examples of the principles from their own experience and fielded questions from the participants.

For Steve Erlenbaugh one of the main take-aways from the course was captured in the quote, "Sometimes you have to say no to grow." He also learned about the benefit of taking time during the day to reflect, even if only for 10 minutes.

Tim Quigley noted that the DISC profile analysis included in the Institute gave him insight into his leadership style and preferred ways to communicate. He also pondered the concepts of responsibility vs. accountability and shared that with his staff who are in leadership roles.
