Naperville residents offer feedback on draft Southwest Community Park Plan

The Naperville Park District invites residents to view the draft master plan for Southwest Community Park and to provide feedback. Residents may email their comments to Executive Director Ray McGury at rmcgury@napervilleparks.org at any time.

Additionally, an online survey is available at www.napervilleparks.org/parks/southwestcommunitypark through May 3.

"It was brought to our attention that the survey does not allow comments without completing a ranking of park amenities," explained Executive Director Ray McGury. "For example, if a person wanted to say that they do not want a certain amenity or even any development at the park, the survey is unable to capture that information."

"We don't want to limit public feedback just to the survey results," added McGury. "We want to hear from all sides and maintain 100% transparency and openness in this process. We invite residents to contact me by email at rmcgury@napervilleparks.org if they were unable to express their opinions on the survey."

Following further review the draft site master plan will be presented to the board of commissioners for discussion at a special workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, immediately preceding its regular 7 p.m. meeting. As always, residents may attend the meeting and sign up to comment.

A completed master plan will be brought to the board for approval in summer 2018. The master plan will guide the district in future development of the park, which most likely will span multiple years, depending on needs, costs and funding.

Southwest Community Park is a 33-acre site located in southwest Naperville at the intersection of Wolf's Crossing Road and Trumpet Avenue.
