Give it a 'tri' this summer at annual Triathlon and Duathlon

Bike, run and swim at Schaumburg Park District's annual Triathlon and Duathlon.

Races begin at 6:30 a.m. July 29, at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way, with check-in, chip assignment, body marking and pick-up starting at 5:15 a.m.

The triathlon consists of a 400-meter swim, 12.8-mile bike ride and 5K run. The duathlon consists of a 12.8-mile

bike ride sandwiched between two 5k runs. Both races are chip-timed, include one transition area and end at Meineke Recreation Center. Multiple age divisions are available for ages 15 and older.

"This popular event allows athletes to showcase their physical strength and endurance," said Charissa Tischhauser, fitness supervisor. "Athletes train all year long and it's fun to see them cross the finish line while friends and family cheer them on."

ANSI approved helmets are required when biking. All participants will receive a technical T-shirt and finisher's medal.

Registration deadline is July 25. Cost is $55 April 1 through June 30 and $65 July 1 through July 25.

Entries are limited to the first 650 participants to register (triathlon and duathlon combined). Participants must register at Active.com.
