Woodfield Area Children's Organization to host Annual Children's Book Drive

The Triphahn Center will be among the many drop-off sites for the Woodfield Area Children's Organization (WACO) annual book drive. WACO's fourth annual "Read to Succeed" Children's Book Drive runs through Wednesday, May 9. The charity group encourages everyone to donate new or gently-used books for pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade children.

The books will go to hundreds of needy families in the Northwest and Western suburbs and will be used for WACO's summer reading program sponsored by Weber Grill of Schaumburg.

Multiple studies have shown that children who own their own books have a much higher chance of success and continued education. Studies have also shown that books in the home have an even greater impact for low-income children than children from more affluent families.

WACO's goal is to put some books in the hands of these children. But we need your help to do it. Please drop off new or gently-used children's books at any of the following 14 locations from now through Wednesday, May 9:

• Bloomingdale: Rooster's, 122 W. Lake St.; Walk-In Closet, 107 S. Third St.

• Hoffman Estates: Triphahn Center, 1685 W. Higgins Road; Village of Hoffman Estates, 1900 Hassell Road; Willow Recreation Center, 3600 Lexington Drive

• Rolling Meadows: McDonald's, 1775 Algonquin Road.

• Schaumburg: Heartland Bank, 321 W. Golf Road; McDonald's, 955 E. Golf Road; Microsoft Store, 106 Woodfield Mall J; Patrick Volvo Cars, 1600 E. Higgins Road; Rep. Michelle Mussman, 15 W. Weathersfield Way; Schaumburg Boomer Stadium, 1999 Springinsguth Road; Village of Schaumburg, 101 Schaumburg Court; Weber Grill, 1010 N. Meacham Road
