Woodland Primary to Mark Earth Day With Movement, Song

Gages Lake-Woodland Primary School will celebrate Earth Day through activities involving students and their parents on Friday, April 20 at the school, 17366 W. Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake. "Growing up Green" is a commitment that Woodland Primary is dedicated to as a Green Ribbon School 2014 winner and as the recipient of the 2017-2018 Whole Child Award in the area of health and wellness from the Illinois ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development).

Parents are invited to attend the kindergarten exercise portion and an invitation was sent out to families with the time and details. "Our love of the Earth and taking care of it is a year-long effort. We know that even the littlest hands can make a big impact. Where we learn matters and sustaining our school and using green practices is part of our daily routine at Woodland Primary," said Principal Stacey Anderson.

Students will be participating in exercise activities and an Earth Day sing-a-long with Wiley the Wildcat. Students also are creating projects in their classrooms with recyclable materials and leaving their mark with murals throughout the school.

The Dual Language kindergarten program is scheduled for 10 to 10:30 a.m. and the program for other kindergarten students is planned for 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Early Childhood and WELE (Woodland Early Learning Experience) programs will have a variety of projects and activities in their classrooms.
