Jacobs High School to put on Thorton Wilder's 'Our Town' April 13-14

Jacobs High School will present "Our Town" at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the auditorium, 2601 Bunker Hill Drive in Algonquin.

Tickets are $10, $5 for students and seniors.

The 1938 play by American playwright Thornton Wilder tells the dramatic story of a small-town romance in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1913. Wilder explains, through his iconic use of a narrator, "Stage Manager," what everyday life was like at the turn of the century.

This play follows Emily and George who grow up as friends next door to each other and eventually become high school sweethearts. You will find out that their hopes, fears, and dreams are not so different from your own today.

Because of this, "Our" Town recently celebrated its 80th birthday and is one of the most produced plays in high schools across America.
