Local seniors club hosts St. Patrick's party

Irish eyes were smiling as the Hampshire-Burlington Senior Citizens Club gathered for their annual St. Patrick's Day extravaganza. The tables were gaily decorated, and emerald green was clearly the color of the day. Leprechauns peeked around every corner and Irish stew simmered in the kitchen.

After a delicious luncheon, featuring Irish soda bread and many other Irish delights, the tables were cleared and several local candidates for office presented their vision for the county and the state of Illinois.

A brief business meeting completed the day's activities.

The Hampshire-Burlington Senior Citizens Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hampshire Township Administration building, 170 Mill Ave. in Hampshire. The next meeting will be April 11.

It's a potluck and all seniors are welcome, so fix your favorite recipe and come join the fun. Just a tip, the Easter Bunny may be there. For details, call (847) 683-0904.
