Help Admiral Byrd, John Jay schools celebrate 50 years

Two of Community Consolidated School District 59's schools are celebrating a 50th anniversary this year, and the district would like to invite the community to join in the festivities at two special events.

Admiral Byrd Elementary, 265 Wellington, in Elk Grove Village, will be hosting an open house for students and families, staff and community members from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3.

John Jay Elementary, 1835 Pheasant Trail, Mount Prospect, will also be hosting an open house for students and families, staff, and community members from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9.

Both schools are welcoming letters, cards and photos from former students, staff, parents and community members to display at the celebration. Questions may be referred to the school offices between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. as follows: Admiral Byrd Elementary, (847) 593-4388, and John Jay Elementary, (847) 593-4385.

Additional information on activities for both events will be forthcoming, so be sure to mark your calendars and save the date.
