Advocate Condell Medical Center makes list of nation's Top 100

Libertyville, IL - In recognition of its performance on patient safety, inpatient and outpatient quality of care, financial stability, operational efficiency and patient experience measures, Advocate Condell Medical Center has once again been named to the 100 Top Hospitals list by IBM Watson HealthTM, formerly known as the Truven Health Analytics® 100 Top Hospitals.

Two other hospitals in the Advocate system - Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Ill. AND Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. were among seven Illinois hospitals that achieved the recognition.

"To be selected from more than 2,700 hospitals in the country is a testament to the outstanding care delivered every day at Advocate Condell Medical Center," said Karen Lambert, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center. "We are incredibly proud to be included within 100 Top Hospitals. The dedication of our physicians, nurses, associates and volunteers, and their shared focus on excellence in patient safety and delivery of exceptional service is to be applauded."

It is the fourth time Advocate Condell Medical Center has received the distinction.

To make IBM Watson Health's elite group, hospitals must not only provide the best possible care for patients, they must also demonstrate excellence as an efficiently run business. IBM Watson Health considers the Top 100 as shining examples for others to follow.

Based on the results of this year's study, the IBM Watson Health researchers extrapolate that if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities:

• More than 102,000 additional lives could be saved;

• More than 43,000 additional patients could be complication-free;

• More than $4.4 billion in inpatient costs could be saved;

• Approximately 200,000 fewer discharged patients would be readmitted within 30 days

The Advocate sites were chosen from 2,740 eligible U.S. hospitals. Key performance benchmarks for award winners included survival rates, readmission rates and shorter length of stay, among others.
