College of DuPage hosts free senior workshop on tax scams March 15

College of DuPage will host a free senior workshop on tax scams from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center, Room 1022, on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Part of the Homeland Security Training Institute's Senior Citizen Crime Prevention series, the workshop features IRS Public Information Officer and Special Agent Kerry Hannigan who will discuss tax scams from people posing as IRS employees.

In addition, U.S. Postal Inspection Service employees Julie Kenney and Erika Hawkins will discuss types of consumer fraud including healthcare fraud, lottery/sweepstakes fraud and work-at-home scams.

Funded through a Resource for Excellence grant from the College of DuPage Foundation, the Senior Citizen Crime Prevention series at COD is committed to providing information and skills designed to keep senior citizens safe.
