MainStreet Libertyville Honors Its Volunteers at Annual Meeting

MainStreet Libertyville is a volunteer based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve the character and promote downtown Libertyville. At its recent Annual Meeting at O'Toole's of Libertyville, members, volunteers and sponsors were recognized for their past support. This year's honorees included Randy Boesch, Rene Cap (Car Fun on 21), Cassie Clark (Chef Fest), Rich Decaluwe (Dickens of a Holiday), Advocate Condell Medical Center, O'Toole's of Libertyville, Maison Chic, Connie Loef, Uline, and Jennifer Johnson. Pam Hume, Executive Director, said, "Our volunteers are the backbone of the organization. They work in so many ways to market our downtown, run our events, and support our fundraisers. For 2018 this added up to over 3,700 volunteer hours. The generous support we receive from the community through our volunteers, sponsors and members proves the value of the program and a vibrant downtown is a direct result of the community engagement."

Two gentlemen were recipients of this year's Volunteer of the Year award, Leslie Galo and Bob Killackey. As former Board members, both are enthusiastic volunteers who have consistently donated their time to many of the organization's annual events including Car Fun on 21 and Dickens of a Holiday. On accepting his award Bob Killackey said, "MainStreet Libertyville is one of the reasons Libertyville is a great place to live."

John Durning, owner of Pizzeria DeVille, received the Business Award known as the Dom Lentini award, in memoriam of a long time downtown business owner who was an avid supporter of the MainStreet Libertyville program. The award is presented each year to a downtown business owner for exceptional leadership and dedication in the promotion and benefit of the downtown community following the principles of the MainStreet Libertyville organization. John said, "Any one who knows me and how much I love this town also knows how much this award means to me, as well as to my partners and my wonderful staff. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who has supported Pizzeria DeVille since our opening in 2014. "
