Veterans who are CLC students and enrolled for care at any of the Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) facilities may enter in art, music, dance and writing categories. Art categories include: painting; sculpture; drawing; photography; wood, leather and model kits; and pottery. Performance categories are: dance (including wheelchair dance); drama (including comedy); solo and group vocal and instrumental acts; vocal original compositions and special recognition. Veterans also may submit creative writing entries, including essays, poetry and short stories.

Contestants may register at the FHCC and at the College of Lake County. CLC registration is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Feb. 9 in Room B113 at the Grayslake Campus. Lovell FHCC registration is from noon to 5 p.m. through Feb. 9 in Building 131, Level 1- Recreation Activity Room, 3001 Green Bay Rd. in North Chicago.

Please note: All performers are encouraged to attend at least a portion of two rehearsals, held 2-6 p.m. every Friday in February at FHCC.

Local artists, musicians and writers will judge the creative entries and determine places in each category. First-place finishers may be eligible to advance to the National Creative Arts Festival, which will take place Oct. 29 to Nov. 5 in Des Moines, Iowa, and will include veterans from throughout the U.S.
