Help Buddy Foundation celebrate its 23rd birthday

Birthdays are special events celebrated by friends and family in honor of someone they love. Each birthday is special, whether it is the first or 81st.

Usually celebrations include presents, a cake and sometimes even a party. Some people even celebrate their pet's big day. I celebrated my dog's second birthday by inviting my family and friends over for a party and then taking dog treats to our obedience training class.

According to Wikipedia, cakes have been a part of celebrations since the ancient Romans. The cake has been an integral part of birthdays in Western European countries since the middle of the 19th century, with the tradition of adding lit candles to the top originating in 18th century Germany.

Dogs' birthday cakes can be purchased at doggy bakeries, while doggy cupcakes can be bought at regular bakeries. Or you can make your own.

I make my dog's birthday cake - a shaped mound of canned dog food topped with unlit candles.
