Friends with the Weather to perform at Highland Avenue Coffeehouse Feb. 17

Enjoy the richness and expertise of three seasoned singer/songwriters coming together in the freshness of a new project.

Come to the Highland Avenue Coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, to hear the dynamic folk trio Friends with the Weather.

Seth Hendricks, lead vocalist and guitar player, and Chris Good, vocalist, bass player and drummer, have been together for 17 years, most of those in a band called Mutual Kumquat that was well known and well-loved in the Midwest and as far away as the west coast. Hendricks and Good wrote most of the songs for that group and its many albums. In 2016, they were joined by pianist, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter David Hupp to create this new group, Friends with the Weather, and a new catalogue of songs - fresh new material, written in the midst of unique times, creating new sonic textures.

They are known for the precision and excellence of their musicianship, their ability to engage, charm, and inspire an audience, and their deep commitment to inclusion, peace. and social justice in the themes of their music.

When they are not performing, Hendricks is the pastor of an Ohio church, Good is an organic farmer in Michigan, and Hupp is an instructor in music at Manchester University in Indiana.

The performance will be 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All are welcome. Friends and neighbors from the community are invited to join this always friendly audience. Admission is free; donations will be appreciated. There will be light refreshments.

All are also welcome at the 9:30 a.m. morning service on Sunday, Feb. 18. It will be led by Hupp, Hendricks and Good.

Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren is at 783 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin. For information, call (847) 741-5124 or visit www.hacob.org.
