'LCAL Love' exhibition celebrates Lake County artists

Submitted by the David Adler Music and Arts Center

The David Adler Music and Arts Center has announced a heartwarming February exhibition by select members of the Lake County Art League.

Meet the artists at a free, public reception from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2.

"For the first time, I will be exhibiting a body of my work with my Libertyville neighbors," said league artist Chris Tanner, whose work features watercolor paintings and sketches.

The league exhibition features paintings, photography, sketches and scratchboard works by Chris Tanner, Leslie Scott, Jeff Harold, Maggie Kraus and Susan Schneider.

Photographer Jeff Harold seeks inspiration in the works of the great Impressionist painters in his series of digitally modified photographs, "Woodland Impressions," while scratchboard artist Leslie Scott draws upon the scratching and etching techniques often found in children's book illustrations. She etches through a layer of black India ink to reveal striking white-on-black images.

"I've been an active member of the Lake County Art League since 2000, and their members have given me a comfortable space to grow and share," Tanner said. "I've found that an important part of my art life is helping others discover what a wonderfully rewarding adventure this can be."

"I like seeing a whole new group of art enthusiasts at the Adler Center," Susan Schneider said.

See the Lake County Art League exhibition through Feb. 22. The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays, and 9:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is always free.
