McHenry County Community Foundation offers scholarship

McHenry County high school seniors or college students attending a college or university in the fall are invited to apply now for numerous scholarships offered through the McHenry County Community Foundation.

The foundation is now accepting scholarship applications from students who live in McHenry County and will be attending an institution of higher learning in fall 2018.

Each scholarship fund was created by generous members of the McHenry County community and is designated for a certain cause, school or region. Students are encouraged to apply soon, since application deadlines are in mid-April. See details about and download applications for each scholarship at www.mccfdn.org/scholarships/.

Mariana Szczesny Scholarship Fund: Multiple scholarships, from $500 to $2,000, are available for graduating high school seniors from any McHenry County school who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need and community involvement. Deadline is April 13.

TC Industries Inc. Scholarship: Two 4-year scholarships, $1,000 per year, are available to children of current TC Industries Inc. employees who exhibit exceptional academic performance and dedication. Applications must be submitted on or before April 15.

Veterans Memorial Scholarship: The McHenry County Veterans Assistance Commission Veterans Memorial Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to the children of U.S. Armed Services veterans attending the higher education institution of their choice. Multiple scholarships, from $500 to $2,000, are available. Applications must be received on or before 4 p.m. April 13.

Joe Carnes Scholarship: One scholarship, maximum $1,000, is available to students graduating from Crystal Lake South High School who hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate positive involvement in school, community and/or church activities. This scholarship honoring the memory of Joseph Carnes is open to all majors, with preference given to students pursing degrees in aviation-related fields, as well as the fields of education and public/community service. Deadline is April 13.
