Libertyville Native Jill Bachochin Selected to USTA Sectional Junior Recreation Committee

A longtime tennis player and coach from Libertyville was recently selected to serve on the Junior Recreation Committee for the United States Tennis Association's Midwest Section.

In that capacity, Jill Bachochin will work with other volunteer committee members to expand the game's reach to youngsters throughout the five states in the USTA's Midwest territory: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan.

The USTA mission is to promote, grow, develop and service the game. For Bachochin, who was selected by the USTA Midwest Section Advisory Group, her new role is a natural fit. She was previously working for the USTA Missouri Valley Section overseeing Youth Tennis and Junior Competition, along with being the staff liaison for the Junior Recreation, Junior Competition, Umpire and Grievance Committees.

"My personal goal is aligned directly with the USTA mission," said Bachochin, who is on staff at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook. "I am passionate and committed to finding ways to introduce the sport of tennis and grow the game to new players. I am optimistic that these strategic goals will be achieved through working together as a team to grow tennis participation."

Bachochin was tapped for the role in November and will be attending the USTA Midwest Annual Meeting in Indianapolis Feb 1-3. At this gathering, she will be participating in Recreation Committee and Taskforce Meetings.

"I am looking forward to this opportunity and being an instrumental part of the committee," she said. "I enjoy thinking outside the box and identifying methods for improvement, idea sharing, and executing to make it happen."

Tennis has always been a part of Bachochin's life. She starred in varsity tennis at Libertyville High School in the 1980s and was named All State in Doubles. She was also awarded a scholarship and played Division I tennis at Eastern Illinois University, where she was named to the Gateway Conference All-Academic and All-Conference Team. In addition, she became the first Lady Panther tennis player named Gateway Conference Player of the Year.

In Fall 2016, Bachochin joined Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook, where she plays a key role in the club's 10-and-under tennis development program. Other duties include working with the Ladies and Men's drills, Cardio tennis, as well as fitness for adults and juniors. For the past 26 years, she has also been on the Advisory Staff for Wilson Sporting Goods.

Bachochin's prior roles include QuickStart Director, CITA Women's Teams Director and Personal Trainer at private clubs on the North Shore, serving as a coach for NCAA Division I Boise State University and University of Iowa, and serving as a coach at the USTA Area Training Center for the Intermountain and Missouri Valley Sections.

Bachochin is certified USPTA-Elite and USPTR professional. She is also an ACE certified fitness professional and Cardio Tennis certified through the Tennis Industry Association, where she bridges fitness and tennis together.
