Sign up for 'Storytime at the Nature Center'

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County, in cooperation with the St. Charles Public Library, offers the monthly "Story Time at the Nature Center."

Treat your child to story times at Creek Bend Nature Center, located in LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., west of Randall Road in St. Charles.

The next programs will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays, Jan. 19 and Feb. 16.

This popular program series is for children (infant to 5 years old) and their caregivers.

Staff from the St. Charles Public Library will read books, accompanied by finger plays, songs and more.

All are welcome to enjoy the interactive exhibits in the nature center after the program. The center features interpretive displays and hands-on exhibits of interest to visitors of all ages. Check out the "Prairie Ecology" exhibit, with bison dating back to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, and biodiversity components. The Nature Center also has the popular wetland exhibit entitled "A Clam's Eye View of the Fox River." You can take a look at how the Fox River appears from underneath the river surface. There also is a woodland exhibit based on the state tree, the white oak.

Advance registration is required. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.

If you are a resident of the St. Charles Public Library District, you can register via the library's website at www.scpld.org.
