Giving back to the community and supporting those in need is crucial, especially during the holiday season when so many are without food and toys for their children.

The Salvation Army of the Fox Valley area red kettle campaign is a reminder that the need has no season and that community support is vital to its success.

In an effort to support their Christmas fundraising needs, Colonial Cafe is offering a match of donations, up to $30,000, throughout the Fox Valley area for the seventh annual Colonial Cafe Match Day on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Donations made to all the red kettles in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Aurora, Naperville, Elgin, Algonquin, Crystal Lake and McHenry County on Saturday, Dec. 9, will be matched, up to $30,000.

Special kettles will be placed at Colonial Café locations in Naperville, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Elgin, Aurora and two in St. Charles.

All contributions will stay local, and support the services and programs of the local Salvation Army units. A special treat card will be given to donors at the red kettles, courtesy of Colonial Cafe.

Colonial Cafe is a longtime friend and supporter of The Salvation Army. It is generational, according to Lt. Betsy Clark, corps officer for The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps.

"Our partnership with Colonial Cafe started with Joe K. Anderson back in 1951, and it continues today through the next generations who give so generously all year round to The Salvation Army. We truly appreciate the Anderson family and their generosity," Clark said.

For more information about the Colonial Café Match Day, call Clark at (630) 377-ARMY (2769).

Volunteers are needed to ring bells at the kettle sites throughout the Fox Valley through Saturday, Dec. 23, and especially Saturday, Dec. 9.
