Dundee Lions prepare for Christmas Tree Sale

In spite of cold weather and rain, the Dundee Township Lions, with the help of many hardy Dundee residents, unloaded more than 300 Christmas trees at Grafelman Park in West Dundee in preparation for the annual Christmas tree sale.

The selling of Christmas trees is the largest fundraiser for the Lions Club.

All profits from the sales go to support many community charities. Lions Club Chairman Mike Buhrmann noted many adults and children from the community lift the trees out of the semi-truck and carry them into Grafelman Park where Lions ready them for selling.

"It's a real outpouring of community spirit. Without all the community help, it would not be possible for the Lions to take on such a large endeavor," Buhrmann said.

Sale hours continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until all the trees are sold.

In addition to trees, there will be wreaths and garland for sale.

The Lions also are asking people to bring their old Christmas tree lights, whether they are working or not, for recycling.

This donation will be used to raise money to support the Lions Foundation to help the visual and hearing-impaired.
