3,500 Irish dancers in Schaumburg Nov. 23-26
The Mid-America Oireachtas, Irish Dance Competition, returns to the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center from Thursday, Nov. 23, to Sunday, Nov. 26.
This competition is a qualifying event for the world championships to be held in Glasgow, Scotland in March.
Dancers range in age from 5 to adult, solo dancing and team dancing. Competitors are expected to come from as far away as North Dakota and Kentucky.
The Irish Dancers Teachers Association of Mid-America is expecting approximately 3,500 competitors, more than 20 vendor exhibits and 15,000 attendees. At least 12 area hotels are housing guests during the holiday weekend.
