Celebrate An Almost Winter Day Nov. 18 in South Elgin

The South Elgin Parks and Recreation invite you to the 16th annual An Almost Winter Day from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at SEBA Park.

Santa will arrive at 3 p.m. to sing carols and take photos with children before heading to the Footprints in Time Plaza on Route 31 for a holiday tree lighting at 5 p.m.

Concessions will be offered by the FUNdation.

A nostalgic trip to the Jon Duerr Forest Preserve and back, including a reading of the Polar Express will be offered by the Fox Trolley Museum for $1 per person at 3 or 4 p.m.

Free events available at An Almost Winter Day are horse-drawn trolley rides, petting zoo, children's activity area, Letters to Santa, cookie decorating station, s'more extravaganza, soup station, and a bonfire to keep warm. Some local favorites, pony rides and a coffee bar, will be offered for a small fee.

"An Almost Winter Day is a must for residents, and guests of South Elgin," said Shane Hamilton, parks and recreation superintendent. "It is a great way to kick off the holiday season … fun, affordable and your first chance to see Santa Claus!"
