Naperville Park District offers web training for holiday volunteers

To help volunteers prepare to serve at popular Naperville Park District holiday events such as Santa House, the park district is offering its fourth annual holiday volunteer training webinar.

"This brief training is required for all volunteers for Santa House and other holiday events," said Lynnette Hoole, park district volunteer manager. "The webinar format makes it easy for busy volunteers to complete the training at home."

Volunteers are needed for Santa House, which runs from Dec. 1 to 23, as well as for several other events, including the Magical Ice Cream Social on Saturday, Nov. 11; Skating with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2; and Donuts with Santa on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Prospective volunteers may sign up to help at the events after they have completed the online training.

The training webinar, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, will provide details about each of the holiday volunteer opportunities, how to complete the volunteer forms, what to expect and how to engage with guests, as well as information about other volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Volunteers who complete the training will receive one hour of volunteer service.

"We welcome parents, club members and leaders in the community to participate in the online training as well," Hoole said.

To request the webinar invitation, email Hoole at lhoole@napervilleparks.org.
