District 304 invites you to GenOvation forum Nov. 14

The Geneva Unit District 304 board of education invites the community to the 2017 GenOvation Forum Tuesday, Nov. 14, to learn about the district's use of innovative practices and technologies in the classroom.

Students and teachers from across grade levels and schools will demonstrate innovative practices and technologies that are helping to enhance learning during the 2017-18 school year.

The open house-style public forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley Ave., Geneva.

The event is a chance for residents to see how their investments in education through their tax dollars are helping to prepare Geneva's young people for the future. Board members will be on hand to answer questions from the community, and refreshments will be provided by the Viking Coffee Shop.

"We encourage parents, grandparents and community members to stop in to explore 'innovation stations' and engage with students and teachers," said Superintendent Dr. Kent Mutchler.

The name of this year's event stems from the district's 2017-18 theme, GenOvation, which emulates Geneva's innovative practices, according to Assistant Superintendent for Learning and Teaching Dr. Andrew Barrett. "We strive to take risks and to employ relevant and meaningful practices for our students," he added.

Innovation stations will showcase how classrooms achieve the district's vision of developing self-directed, lifelong learners; effective communicators; complex creative, and adaptive thinkers; and collaborative and productive citizens.
