Learn about children and mental illlness at Oct. 25 program
On Wednesday, Oct, 25, Rachel Tsen, youth program director at the National Alliance of Mental Illness, will present a program on understanding mental illness and its early signs and symptoms at the Bloomingdale Public Library.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 101 Fairfield Way. The program will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone.
The program is being sponsored by the Bloomingdale Township Mental Health Auxiliary and the League of Women Voters Roselle Bloomingdale.
NAMI's youth program "Ending The Silence" originated in DuPage County and is now being used throughout the county. Its goal is education to eliminate stigma. There are specific, observable early warning signs of mental illness. You can help yourself, family and friends by being aware of these signs and making sure treatment is sought as soon as possible.
The Bloomingdale Township Auxiliary's goal is to support the new township mental health board by providing educational opportunities for the community on mental illness, addiction and developmental disabilities and encouraging citizen involvement.
