Sherwood Elementary School Students Party at McTeacher's Night in Bannockburn
Sherwood Elementary School of North Shore District 112 in Highland Park held their second annual McTeacher's Night at the Bannockburn McDonald's on Waukegan Road on Tuesday, October 17th. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.
On Tuesday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Sherwood Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.
Twenty-seven teachers/staff worked from the elementary school including Principal Nickie Bellini and Assistant Principal Melissa Raich. The McTeacher's jobs included getting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.
Sherwood School Principal Nickie Bellini had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. She encouraged the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.
One highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar, the Sherwood staff members would sing the McDonald's Jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!
A special thank you goes to Sherwood Elementary School PTO member Shari Schachter who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Sherwood teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The Sherwood PTO plan to use the money raised for Cultural Arts Assemblies, PBIS incentives, and the Angel Fund.
Sherwood Elementary PTO raised over $800.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
