Health department conducts annual review

The McHenry County Department of Health has conducted its annual review of the Public Health Ordinance and is proposing several revisions. The proposed changes have been approved by the board of health and require review and adoption by the McHenry County Board.

The major change to the ordinance includes the adoption of the current Illinois Food Code, which is based upon the 2013 Food and Drug Administration Retail Food Code. Changes also include minor technical updates in public health nuisance and animal control and corrections of minor errors or omissions. Updates to Nursing Division services also are included.

A copy of the draft ordinance is available for review on the department's webpage, www.mcdh.info.

The McHenry County Department of Health is inviting public comment on the draft ordinance revisions. Comments and questions can be submitted via email to health@co.mchenry.il.us, directly to staff at (815) 334-4510 and at public meetings at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at McHenry County Department of Health, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at McHenry County Department of Health, 100 N. Virginia St., Crystal Lake.

All comments will be summarized and provided to the county board for consideration. Staff anticipates the draft ordinance will be placed on 30 day review at the Oct. 17 county board meeting.
