Elgin Public Museum to celebrate Day of the Dead Oct. 29

On Sunday, Oct. 29, the Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., invites the community to its annual Day of the Dead celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Dia de los Muertos," a holiday with origins in Mexico, falls on Nov. 1 each year.

Francesca Zomkowski, the museum's education coordinator, will have paintings of skulls and balloons. Create a traditional Ojos de Dios (God's Eye) or paper flowers.

The offrenda will again be made by Lucy Lopez and friends. Several people will be selling crafts.

Legit Dogs and Ice will be the food truck on hand. Treats will be available.

The Elgin Public Museum will have a T-shirt designed by Cristina Colungo for sale.
