Volunteer Center McHenry County offers training

Volunteer Center McHenry County will host a board member training from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 21.

The fall training will consist of two classes "Understanding Your Charity's Financial" and "Nonprofit Legal and Regulatory Responsibility." The training will take place at the Volunteer Center, 620 Dakota St., in the back two-story building, room E, in Crystal Lake. For more information and registration, visit www.volunteercentermchenrycounty.org or call (815) 344-4483.

John Altman, CPA will present "Understanding Your Charity's Financial Report." If reading financial statements and reports is like a foreign language to you, attend this workshop to learn how to "make sense" of it. This session will include an overview of the most essential reports you should be preparing, how to read and interpret them, and how and when to get additional assistance and guidance.

"Nonprofit Legal and Regulatory Responsibility" will be taught by Shelly Caselle-Dercole, CPA, from 10 a.m. to noon. This workshop will help you understand and "sort out" the legal and regulatory requirements of being a nonprofit. Find out what you need, where to file, how often you need to review and update your information, and where you can get help.

More information about the presenters can be found online at www.volunteercentermchenrycounty.org.
